Instructors
The Instructors page is a directory of everyone with the instructor role: who they are, how many classes they teach, and their total class assignments. It is the staff-side companion to the separate Instructor area that instructors themselves log into.
Used by: Admin and Super Admin.
What this page shows
Go to https://admin.uibeta.org/admin/instructors. You get a searchable list of instructors plus quick totals:
- Total Instructors
- With Assigned Classes
- Total Class Assignments
Search by name or email to find a specific person. Each row shows the instructor and their assignments.
Assigning an instructor to a class
You do not add class assignments from this page. Assign instructors from the class (product) editor:
- Open the class under https://admin.uibeta.org/admin/classes and edit it.
- Add the instructor (primary or co-instructor) in the class's instructor section.
- Save.
A class can have more than one instructor. See Classes and semesters for the full class-editing workflow.
To give an existing user the instructor role, or link a teacher's account, use Users.
The automatic teacher membership
Assigning an instructor to a class matters for more than the roster. When a class reaches its minimum enrollment, the system automatically grants a complimentary Gateway membership (one year) to each assigned instructor who does not already have an active membership.
- No code, nothing at checkout — it happens on its own.
- Instructors who already have an active membership are skipped, not upgraded or extended.
- If the class never reaches its minimum, no membership is granted.
When a grant happens, an alert email goes to staff who have class notifications turned on (Admin → Settings → notification preferences). This is a different benefit from the teacher free class, which still uses a coupon — see Coupons.
